case very dirty, but appears to retain its original gilding, slight gap between base molding and upper part of base, can be closed by loosening nuts and realigning the components, marble with minor flakes and chips, the small casting representing part of Andromache's puddled dress on the case top missing, dial with a few minor scratches and a very faint hairline at the center, movement ticks and strikes, old conversion from silk thread suspension to steel, back cock appears to be correct, pendulum replaced.

Generally very good original condition. The gilt statue has some losses to gilding that was applied later. It is still quite bright and presents well. There are some minor losses to the alabaster on corners. All of the ormolu trim appears intact. Enamel dial is nearly perfect. The point at the bottom of the pendulum will need to be straightened a little. Beveled glass is missing from the back door of the case.

bezel, dial and movement replaced and of later date than the case, case dirty but retains much of its original gilding, patinated surfaces good, pallets and hands missing, trains functional, this movement was meant to strike on a gong and so has no provision for mounting a bell, and no way to mount a gong
Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Don Caesar and Don Juan" figural mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement with visible Brocot escapement, black enameled iron base on paw feet supporting clock with cream enamel dial and Louis XV style
The black enameled base is in good condition with a few small losses of finish. Paw feet have the original Japanese Bronze finish. The dial and hands are excellent. The clock case and figures look to have been replated with copper. Some attempt was made to selectively darken the finish, but overall it is rather too bright and uniform. This should improve with age. The door hinge will need to be repaired. Sword for the figure on the left is included, but will need to be reattached. The pendulum is the proper Ansonia type. The movement is signed.

The spelter case is in good condition with no obvious breaks or losses. It has a green finish which is probably not original but has some age. It gives an impression of something like a vibrant verdigris. The gilding has mostly worn off of the cast figures and ornaments. The white porcelain dial has one fine hairline crack. The beveled glass is very good. The pendulum is absent. The minute hand is a replacement. The round Ansonia movement is signed.

The enamel base has been sprayed with flat black paint. The figure and clock case have been sprayed with gold spray paint. The figure is missing the tips of two fingers, the handle of the short sword, and one wing of the griffin on top of the helmet. The white enamel dial is very good, as are the hands. Hanging piece on the right side of the case will need to be reconnected. Correct pendulum, though the rating nut is not right. The movement is signed.
