Mungers/Patent Eight Day Brass Clocks above Apollo in chariot, over Made, Warranted & Sold/Wholesale & Retail By/Asa Munger & Co./Auburn N.Y. over directions, 8-day time and strike weight driven movement mounted in mahogany case with 2 doors, dial tablet with bronzed fruit on black ground surrounding dial, lower door with 2 tablets, upper with lady standing next of column with blue dress, red curtain behind and landscape in background, lower with country road with white picket fence and family of 3 out for a stroll, The dial is flanked by reverse painted glass tablets with stacked fern leaves in bronze on black ground, inset in mahogany frames forming plinths, lower casement door flanked by acanthus leaf carved half columns with stepped out base and front carved paw feet with acanthus knees and rear turned feet, crest with carved basket of fruit and leaves, flanked by carved leaves and plinths with bull's-eye rosettes, each door has period spiral Sandwich-type knob in clear spiral pattern, all tablets are fine painted replacements, 6.5" x 18.5" x 39" high. Condition report Refinished with good color, currently running. We do not guarantee working order of clocks. AUCTIONEERS NOTE: One of the reverse painted pilasters flanking the dial fell off and broke, all pieces were glued back together and the wood frame reattached. This damage occured in transport to the auction site.
