Waltham/Durfee Mahogany Tall Case Clock,

silvered and brass dial with marked with Waltham's Star logo dial, and with retailer's name Wright Kay & Co./Detroit Paris, applied brass Arabic on chapter ring, outer minute ring marked with ticks and bold dots every 5 minutes, silvered seconds dial above center with Arabic every 10 seconds, set in central scroll cut brass floral center with matching spandrels, two secondary silvered dials in upper spandrels with left having Silent/Chimes and right with Westminster/Whittington, silvered tombstone top with engraved world hemispheres, and arched silvered days of month in Arabic with painted phase of the moon dial with sail boat scene. (Duy Ly 1994: 450, fig. 1046). Brass 8-day time, strike, day, and chime triple weight driven works with 9 tube chimes and original pendulum, highly carved solid mahogany case with beveled glass doors and side lights, 2 full (front) and 2 half (rear) fluted columns with Doric capitals, stepped out base with egg and dart molding above panels with rectangular lines of carved flowers, above beaded molding and bracket foot. Bonnet with pierced key lock side doors with cut-out Greek key designs, crown with peaked architectural pediment with frieze of carved fleur-de-lis and shells and acanthus leaf finial, 24.75" x 29.5" x 108" high. Condition report Feet are different from that illustrated in Duy Ly, put still original to this case, as there are several known variations to this case. Currently running.
