Cincinnati Retailed Bracket Clock, ca 1890, English, retailed by Duhme, jewelers and silversmiths, Cincinnati, with engraved brass dial with Roman numerals and Arabic on chapter ring, matching brass plate with retailer and city just below noon point, center with gilt sanded finish, arched top with engraved brass chimes dial, with matching center and gilt cast brass floral scroll work surround, lower spandrels with cast gilt brass shells and scroll work. Apparently unmarked (rear plates not removed) double fusee, 8-day brass time and strike movement, striking on the hour only. Mahogany case with Romanesque gilt cast bronze half-length female figures on quarter columns of front door with tapering scrolled plinth and spray of roses at terminals, four gilt cast bronze pineapple finials at corners with arched top having stepped and cove moulded terminal with one course of quarter round bronze cove moulding and turned mushroom mahogany finial. Stepped-out base with detailed gilt cast bronze acanthus leaf moulding and four gilt cast bronze scrolled feet. Side panels with ornate gilt cast bronze pierced floral scroll work with arched tops and rear door with key lock, pierced brass mesh with silk backing, all in original finish, 8" x 10" x 13" high. Condition report Includes both original keys and pendulum, minor expected wear to gilt bronze work and chip at margin of rear door, currently runs. We do not guarantee working order of clock or watches.
