labeled by Erastus Hodges, Torrington, Connecticut, ca 1830, in mahogany with cherry secondary wood. With a brass movement and a replaced reverse-painted tablet depicting George Washington's Mount Vernon. Retains weights, pendulum and a fine, old finish; 31" high x 15.75" wide x 4.25" deep. Erastus Hodges (1781-1847) worked with Norrish North until North's bankruptcy in 1825 allowed Hodges to gain full ownership of the shop. By the mid-1830s, Hodges was producing very few clocks. Condition report Some damage; we do not guarantee the working order of clocks.
