Gilt and Alabaster French Clock Under Dome, unmarked, except stamped numbers on time and strike, spring-driven, brass movement. Ornate clock with enamel dial, Roman numerals, cast gilt brass surround having cherubim, devil's head and lady's head with floral and scrollwork background. Exposed drop pendulum with cast gilt brass, cavalier head and garter surround, capped with paired dolphins. Case is neoclassical with 4 columns, Roman pediment having dentate molding and drapery swags. Base similar with floral swags, step-out with acanthus leaf carving and reeded block feet. Case sits on japanned rectangular base with stenciled floral gilt spray at front and rounded corners, grooved to hold fitted clear glass dome, total height, under dome 25". Ca 1850-70.Corner chip on pediment, VG+.
