Pressed oak case in original finish with top having central uniformed shoulder length portrait of Gen. Lee, flanked by stacked cannon balls and crossed flags, lower wings with field cannon with U.S. flag and skirt with alternating stars and anchors, 15" x 5" x 23" high, with key. Former Confederate Major-General Fitzhugh Lee was the consul-general of the United States to Havana, Cuba at the outbreak of the Spanish-American War. During the war he commanded the VII Army Corps.
