C.1848, Aaron D. Crane, YEAR CLOCK, model D2 with "improved" pendulum, special 2-fusee movement, with unique "crawler" escapement.

23 October 2024
Condition: the door has been repaired and re-painted black (rest of case finish seems orig); the tablet is now a clear piece of glass, upper glass replaced also. The paper dial behind glass has age [maybe 50 years], but is not in the center as it should be and the holes were cut with a razor rather than a punch; it is signed J. R. Mills and Co., New York. Dial surround retains its bright finish and original tabs are intact. The double fusee movement is clean, intact and has been re-strung with 70 pound woven cord. The greenish paper that lines the case is excellent and the label is outstanding. For reference, see Ly's book American Clocks, Vol 3, pages 66-70, and also Fred Shelley's Nawcc supplement from 1987. Height 22.3 inches
