C.1870, French, Gilt Bronze Annular dial clock, in the form of an urn, profusely decorated with female busts, swags and acanthus sprays, the urn atop a fluted round support, the whole setting on a matted square base. Condition: the movement is oily, ticks ok, but will need cleaning; both the minute and hour dials are silvered brass, with oxidation and some loss to the numerals. The top to the urn has two holes (original) to facilitate winding with the top on [if you can remember the time when the dial spokes are not over the wind arbors]. One screw to hold on the top is absent. Retains original lever escapement, intact, that is cocked onto the top plate [not on a platform] An interesting model, with glass and star pointer over the time reveal. Height 16.3 inches
