Birge, Mallory and Co., Bristol, Conn., 8-day time/strike, large Empire, column and cornice shelf clock, 2-wt circa 1840 Mahogany veneered case in as found condition in old finish with some veneer loss on the edge of the cornice. Original painted dial is very clean with some minor loss at the mounting pins. Sliding mirror in the dial is original. Hands and turned feet are original. Bottom tablet is original, but it is cracked and has some loss. Center glass is not original. Large strap brass movement is signed. A lot of Americana for the price. Height 37.5 inches
