French, Automaton "LOCOMOTIVE", from the Industrial series, an 0-6-0 model with a bonnet smokestack, a clock in the cab portion, and a barometer in the boiler section, and with a working bell and prominent cow-catcher, the wheels powered by a separately wound and governed movement in the chassis area of the locomotive. C.1890. overall very good to excellent condition, the gilt areas restored and the marble polished. Has a well made bell strike movement with large platform spanning the plates at top, appears clean and ticking. 2 or 3 of various small screws that hold things together on the loco are absent, but a good machinist can make short order of that. Movements and barometer are original to the locomotive "case". The compass in top of the smoke stack has been restored. Width = 20.3" Height 16.5 inches
