Japanese, large lantern clock, complete with a period Japanese made wall bracket, and its packing case with original Japanese writing. C.1790-1810 the brass covered driving weights are quite old and may be original; lead counter weights and alarm weights are cast lead and are newer. Top alarm wheel and plate are restored (well done in Japan). Otherwise the clock is overall in exceptional original condition. Hammered pattern in brass case has wear, but still fully visible. Weights are moved in or out on the foliot to speed or slow the clock to match the length of day; alarm holes are seen in central dial. Ht of clock and bell = 15", ht of bracket = 22"
