The scene typical of an Alpine village in southern Austria, and with 9 total people in various activities, tending cows, in carriage, carrying freight. C.1840. overall very good original condition, the oil on wood painting with some cracks and minor touch up. There is a lever on the right side of the clock for starting the pendulum if it has wound down. This ran 2 days here, and may go for 3, however typically these are 2 day clocks. The wooden slide out cover for the rear is original. Pull 3 large strings at bottom for winding, the 4th if for full quarter repeating. Width = 34" ht = 25"
