Birge, Mallory and Co., triple deck shelf clock with eagle splat, with large strap brass, roller pinion movement, 8-day, 2-wt. C. 1840. mahogany veneered case retains original finish, but has been varnished over and gilt portions now painted gold. Columns look like the original gilt caps may be under the dirty over-coating. Cap on the right chimney has been replaced. Orig painted dial has age darkened with loss; original mirror/slide intact. Bottom tablet is original, with loss; hands are orig. Center tablet was probably a mirror, now painted. Escutcheon missing from top door. Rt foot with loss to gesso. Height 39 inches
