refinished mahogany veneered case in especially clean condition. Dial and movement are both signed C. Jerome, but these seem to be replacements as there are blocks inside the case for a movement with a full-width seatboard that would slide into the groves. Hands are period. Design on the tablet is well preserved. An example of a very similar case with the S. B. Terry movement is shown in "Horology Americana", pg. 184; this was most likely in this case originally. Note also that the pendulum bob has been modified so that this mov't will keep time in this case. Mov't is clean and runs briskly. Ht 19.75"
