Seth Thomas Clock Co., REGULATOR No. 12, fine quality timepiece in a Victorian walnut case with hounds tooth trim along the top, 8-day, weight movement with jeweled pallets, c.1881 this case has had some restoration over the years. On the top the two outer diamond shaped pieces are replaced, along with one or 2 of the smaller pieces. The door has two veneer repairs top right and one lower right, chip on top left re-glued. Maybe 20 years ago, after case work, it was refinished to blend colors. The finish has deteriorated and peeled off the wood on the lower door, base trim and top inside the case. The pulley is not ST issue. The mercury jar is a replacement, and needs one slightly larger in diameter. The movement itself is in excellent condition, running briskly, and the engraved silvered dial is very good, lacquer slightly discolored; it would benefit from re-silvering. The nickel finish on the movement is excellent; light reflections look odd to the camera, but it is really fine. Beat scale is original and excellent, however the right support is missing rear tab, and we taped rt side for foto. Good original weight has knurled ends and typical ST hook. Ht 72"
