Aaron Willard, Boston, C.1825, 8-day "Massachusetts Shelf" clock, time only, weight driven.

the tablet marked Aaron Willard is not old, and has a single horizontal crack. The mahogany and mahogany veneered case in nice condition in an old or original finish. There are some seam cracks from age in the half round molding on the upper door and bottom panel and a small chip on the molding on the door and one on the panel. Retains original dished or concave dial with original paint and numerals; no evidence of dial signature. The feet were all 4 wooden pads to start, the front 2 now replaced with gilt balls. Nice period finial. The original movement is typical of what A. Willard used in his shelf clocks, and with significant wear to all pinions, nicely cleaned and ticks OK. The backboard marked with the number "333" behind mov't. Ht 32"
