English, Time and bell strike TAVERN CLOCK, 26" dial with gilt Roman numerals, in a Chinoiserie case, the with raised figures in period dress, amongst gardens and temples, C.1800. the case was re-decorated around 1950, and with some losses and abrasion since. The movement needs work, as the crutch is not attached to the verge. Note there are empty dial feet holes in the front plate which may/? indicate that movement did not start life in the case, and the seat board is new. The iron pendulum bob is signed S. M. CLUNG, CARLISLE (cast into the iron). There are two large rectangular weights, extra heavy and the compounding pulleys under the seat board are intact. Ht 61"
