Chelsea Clock Company "Tambour No. 3", ca 1917.

Very similar to the Tambour No. 2 but the case is cradled much lower in its cast base. The cast is cast bronze with a polished copper bronze finish. It is 21" wide, 10" high, and the distinctive case is unlike the many tambour clocks Chelsea made. It has large ball feet, rolled ends, and a large bowed silver dial with raised numerals. The bowed glass in the sash is beveled, the hands and numerals are original and very nice. The dial is signed, "Hardy and Hayes Co. / Pittsburgh / Chelsea". The 8 day movement is signed, "Chelsea Clock Co. / Boston U.S.A.", and serial number, No. 866912. The base of the case is also signed, No. 866912. It strikes "house strike". The original Chelsea winding key is included. "Chelsea Clock Company / The First Hundred Years", page 189; Ly-American, Volume 3, page 80.
