Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. "No. 3 1/2 Parlor-Black Dial", ca 1881.
This clock has a double spring, time only, 30 day movement, clean and running. These clocks have paper dials and are normally changed out several times in their existence, this one is no exception. The bottom dial/glass is original and has good painted numbers, some light fading but actually not worth mentioning. All the hands, bezels, and glasses, are all original. There is an original winding key, signed, "ICCCo", and a crystal and beveled pendulum that have etched on the front, "ICCCo". All the wood carvings on the top, both sides, and around the bezels, are original. The movements are original and in operating condition. The 20.5" high walnut case has ebony trim, mostly the carved pieces previously mentioned, plus the columns each side of the upper dial. One shortcoming keeping this clock from being worth $7000. It has a new backboard, in 3 pieces. It is not a bad replacement and is painted black like the originals. We have sold only two 30 day models previously, one in the January 2007 auction for near $6000, and it had a new backboard; and one in the January 2009 auction for almost $7000.
