Self Winding Clock Co. Regulator No. 18, with an "A" rotary style movement. This has to be a transitional model made using the later style two glass case that was normally equipped with an "F" style movement.
The only movement ever in this case was this "A" rotary. It is not some made up or put together creation. Self Winding was notorious for putting together whatever was on hand and often made up various movement and case combinations that are out of the ordinary. For instance the 12" dial is in near mint condition and has three extra holes around the edge. They more than likely traded dial among clocks being built at the time.We have seen several early rotary cases that were outfitted originally with later "F" style movements. The finish on this oak case was cleaned and polished years ago. Original old glass, nickel trim with a fabulous nickel damascened pendulum bob which is like new with no wear. Two side door locks and a beat scale inside. The movement has been overhauled and is running using "D" cell flashlight batteries. It still has the original wiring and set up instruction cards in the bottom of the case. The clean/polished oak case is 50" tall and 19" wide.
