Welch, Spring and Co. hanging clock with old advertising, "Sembrich", ca 1889.
Black walnut case is 39" tall, original and in excellent condition except for the top one inch of the case that is new wood, stained to match the other wood. There are the usual corner nicks or edge scuff marks from hauling or bumping, nothing serious. It has the old original finish now crazed from an accumulation of polish and pollutants over the last 120 years. The light spot inside the case is the camera flash reflection. Old glass has some interesting painted advertising, "Sparr / the / Jeweler". Original brass bob, wood stick, gong, two piece painted dial, and old hands. On the back is a near complete black and gold paper label. The movement was made by E. N. Welch, it is 8 day, running, and striking the Cathedral gong. Ly-Welch, page 132.
