Wilcock Pat. Canada 1896, copied from the chime movement of this large mantle clock.
Like the Seth Thomas chime clocks, this one has two movements, the 8 day running movement has one hammer that strikes the hours on the largest of five coil gongs, and the chiming movement has one spring (wound from the side of the case) that plays Westminster Chimes, four hammers on four coil gongs. Also on the side is a chime/silent lever. There are cathedral window cutouts on the sides, cloth and metal grills, for the chime sounds to escape the case. Bowed glass in the brass sash, dial apparently has new paper on the pan, and the hands are possibly correct. Quarter columns on the sides with brass capitals and bases. String inlay and a large piece of inlay on the front, metal feet, and four pointed finials. I cannot vouch for the originality of the finials. Large wood back door with hinges and a knob, but no latch to hold the door. The mahogany case is 17.25" tall, in generally good condition, complete, and original, but needs polish.
