The top lid is 10.25" across, and is almost 3.5" deep. The back recessed into a bulkhead or wall and a ring around the middle of the case has holes for screws to attach to a surface. The strangest ships type clock I have seen. Push button release on the left, hinged on the right. Recessed numerals painted white. Dial is 8", signed "Sun Shipbuilding And Dry Dock Co. / Chester, Pa., U.S.A.", and signed by Chelsea at the bottom. The movement is time only and running very nicely. A serial number on the back plate is, "275547". This case, dial, hands, etc. resembles The U.S. Navy clocks pictured on page 212 of the book, "Chelsea Clock Company / The First Hundred Years".
