English short drop, carved case, ca 1880. Some say this style clock with the bezel pegged to the box behind, may have been made by Welch or Jerome and exported to England.

I think it may be an English made case and movement. Cases that are beautifully carved, like this one, are most usually of English origin. Note the carved head at the bottom and the grapes, vines, and leaves. The two part walnut case is 27" tall, clean, polished, original, and in my estimation, a keeper. It is 8 day, spring driven, and strikes a bell. The mirror, bottom glass, pendulum, dial, and hands, are all original to the case. The glass in the bezel is old but has new putty. The new putty was expertly done and the glass could still be original, just do not know for sure. This is a great looking clock.
