I could like them more if they made them to run 8 days, but in the 1800's they were living day to day and worrying about which country would invade them next. The wood of the 18.5" high case, top and base, looks like mahogany, but I would lean more to a Black Forest evergreen type wood that is stained. The base has ripple like molding all around, turned feet, wood bases and capitals supporting the onyx columns, wood movement can and back cover. You must admit they decorated their cases. Check out the onyx or pearl buttons and other ornaments on top, the onyx finials, and all those decorations behind the glass. Very delicate brass sash with glass, dial ring, and hands. The porcelain dial is good but there are tiny chips around the arbors. Brass movements in this type Austrian clock normally will only run 2-4 days. The silk thread suspension is broken so I did not run the movement. Knowing the work of this collector I would say you are safe with the movement once you loop the thread. Note the great pendulum and pull cord strike advance. A lot of clock. Signed and/or numbered on the back cover.
