Italian, Giovani Scherlino, Torino, (Patent holder) novelty sector clock, with snap back hand action at 12 o'clock, C.1930.

the original movement is heavy and well made with lever 'scape and brushed plates. The dial, which in many respects represents the entire clock, has some rust, some chips and fading/ wear. The artwork for the dial was done by a firm in Milan, looks like G. Ranci [on right margin]. The left margin of the dial bears the name of the inventor, repeated on the rear dust cover. The seconds hand is absent. Sector display watches and clocks have come and gone over the last 2 centuries, as taste has changed. This is a very interesting example that we have not seen before and is in generally good original condition. Ticks and stops; duration seems to be around a couple of days. Everything present is original. Ht 9 1/2"
