English long case 8 day time and strike movement only, Simon Willard signature (?), c1785

English long case 8 day time and strike movement only, Simon Willard signature (?), c1785 scratched onto the back plate is "cleaned by Simon Willard Roxbury 1786" and an 1841 service notation by another clockmaker. We cannot verify this attribution, but the movement is complete with bell, grooved barrels, rack and snail strike, etc. Note: movement only, no weights, pendulum, seat board etc. This movement could have easily been finished in America from English castings. It is very similar to movements on clocks with genuine Boston maker's names on the dial including Willards which were finished from English castings.
