E. Howard and Co., Boston, "REGULATOR No. 72", for the Santa Fe Railway, La Junta, Colorado station, in walnut, 8 day weight, and with original Santa Fe maintenance sticker behind the dial plate, c1890.

inside the top left of the case is ATSF Form 1649 indicating this clock was used and maintained at La Junta. Very legible record indicates the clock was cleaned by F. H. Barnes on December 2, 1937, and that it was hung in the office of the Asst Mgr and Mgr at La Junta. There are two other form 1649s underneath the top one, however it appears impossible to separate them. The dial of this clock has been repainted, and the metal dial plate [not the wooden mask] appears to have been replaced many years ago by the Railway, as it is not perfectly round and looks to have been cut with tin snips; regardless it has been there a long time and the holes align perfectly. There is a small area of brass showing through the nickel plating on the damascene pendulum. The case is immaculate, and note the maintenance record shows the case was "cleaned and polished"; the original finish is superior. The Santa Fe logo on the glass has been re-done professionally with gold leaf. High quality Howard movement is complete and sound; is running briskly but could stand a clean and oiling. Large iron weight has cast in "1" and is original; old crank with spinning handle. This item is sure to appeal to the Railway crowd as well as the clock collector. Ht 65"
