E.F. Caldwell, N.Y. table clock with Greco-Roman Classical theme. The E. Howard and Co., Boston, 8 day, time only, spring driven, nickel damascene movement has a lever escapement and micrometric regulator, s#2531, and is housed in a large gilt and patinated bronze circular case with six legs in the form of winged satyrs raising the case about 1 1/4" off the ground. The back plate is engraved in script "E.F. Caldwell and Co. Inc. New York". The dial facing upwards is highly ornate with Classical decor including finely cut and engraved mythological figures and animals, c1915 the clock is in excellent original condition and ticking. Edward F. Caldwell and Co. was founded in 1895 and renowned for it's high quality metalwork. The company specialized in manufacturing lighting fixtures, clocks and desk accessories.
