The back plate has an 8 character mark on it - engraved in 3 lines with a border. There are 2 bells, of different sizes, each with its' own hammer. They both strike once for the 1/4 hour, twice for the 1/2 hour and three times for the 3/4 hour. On the hour, a single bell strikes the appropriate number of times. There is a porcelain dial with fancy hour and minute hands plus a seconds hand. The brass plate framing the dial is all hand engraved with a key border, scrolling leaves and what may be bats. There are also 3 characters engraved directly above the dial. Further above the dial, set in at an angle, are 2 silver colored pieces like flags with a sun on them. In a 2 piece mahogany case and base, the clock is running and striking at this time. (The dial has lots of black specks from the production process.) Dial - 7 1/2" Diameter; Case - 19 3/8" Tall x 10 3/8" Deep. This all sits on another mahogany base with a swivel platform on it. That piece is 6" Tall x 14 3/4" Wide x 11 1/2" Deep
