Refinished mahogany veneered case with some minor loss and a repair on the bottom edge. Original painted bottom tablet has several cracks. Original center tablet has loss on the border area and some loss to the painting. Original painted dial has some loss. Hands look to be original. Cast iron gong base is now replaced with a wood spacer. Feet are original. Gilding on the columns now gold painted. Upper columns have loss to the gilt areas and the faux graining. Carved eagle is now a replacement, but most likely was a gilt plaster eagle or fruit motif originally. Both side returns on the top are missing. Hour hand is broken and will need repair. A pulley on the strike side is missing. Ht. 36 1/2"
