refinished rosewood veneered case is in good condition. The hour and minute hands are original; calendar hand is a later replacement. The original dial is very good to excellent with some flaking and loss around the winding holes; there is NO evidence on any touch up to either background or numerals or written portions; all old and legible. Details on this calendar dial construction and patent can be found on Tran Duy Ly's book titled "Gilbert Clocks" pages 72-73 and also in his book titled "Calendar Clocks", pages 80-81. Patent for this dial was issued on March 5, 1861. Ht 23"
