French, Barbedienne, Paris, a large marble and bronze mantel clock with perpetual calendar, and surmounted by a Greek warrior with a lions head helmet, and showing phases of the moon and center seconds, the dial flanked by two robed clerics or

there are several chips and repairs to the marble case, and a small chip in the dial above the 12; tail to the seconds hand has broken away [in a bag]. The bronze is of the highest quality, and with its foundry mark "Reduction Mecanique, A Collas". The high quality movement has a 60 tooth escape wheel and brocot escapement on the rear plate and is thus able to show half seconds on the dial with one hand revolution per minute. Subsidiary dials in the center indicate day, date and month [correcting for short months] and also phases of the moon in a "penny moon" aperture. Note statue is now separate from base, could be re-attached by adding two studs to meet holes in case top. Ht 31"
