Banjo Clock, wood front mahogany 8 day weight driven Massachusetts time piece, possibly by Jonathan Billings, c1830

The round top skeletonized movement is unique and looks like the product of Billings of Reading and Acton. There has been significant restoration, and the wood panels in the base and hinged throat look newer, as does the weight. The painted metal dial appears to be a repaint, and there is a small chip in the glass. According to the consignor, the clock runs well with a strong tick. This is a rare and interesting piece, even with its alterations. Ht 29"
