This extremely rare wall clock is fully described on page 181 of Demeter. Except for the signed and lightly crazed dial which is from another #3, this example is all original and scarcer yet made from cherry. The glasses both are wavy, the beat scale shows the company initials, and the brass bob and weight shell are brightly lacquered, important since the visible weight descends in front of the pendulum to better compete with the rival Seth Thomas No. 2. Chelsea #3's were used in U.S. Treasury Department offices nationwide. The movement, featuring maintaining power and low serial number 6930, ticks okay but may benefit from minor service. Ht 37"
