English, by a premier maker (probably Smith and Sons), for DENT, clockmaker to the Queen, 33 Cockspur St, London, 3-fusee bracket clock, chiming the quarters on choice Whittington-8-bells, or Westminster on 4 gongs, and counting the hours on a large flat wire cathedral gong, with an engraved and silvered dial, c1890 the oak case has been over-brushed and polished with a coat of shellac, and is a bit shiny. The silvered dial bears the retailer's name as shown in the description. Dial, hands and hardware are original, however pendulum hold-down screw is absent (a machinist can turn and thread one). Movement has been recently cleaned and oiled and is running / chiming. Ht 23"
