H. J. Davies, New York "Crystal Gem" walnut, 8 day, time and strike, clock with glass dome, c1875

this model, with its single mirror and no cupids, probably is the same as the "Crystal Palace No. 3", but was Davies name for that style. Davies name is stamped into the movement, pendulum, and base, and there is a good rear label as well. Except for the missing decorative piece at the top of the dial, this all looks old and original, with a slightly worn paper dial. In 1877, Ansonia bought Davies company and he became Ansonia's general manager, thus his Crystal Palace clocks were sold after 1877 as Ansonia's, but this one is prior and a "Davies". Ht to top of dome 17"
