Birge and Fuller, Bristol, Conn., 30 hour, time and strike, wagon spring steeple on frame [or double steeple] shelf clock, c1845 Refinished mahogany veneered case with some loss on the curved molding on the bottom area of the case, a piece missing on the left side and a chip on the bottom door and the flat strip below the top door. Original painted dial has some loss at the mounting pins and at the winding arbors. Bottom tablet is original. Top tablet is different with some loss but appears to be original. Hands are original. One of the chains on the wagon spring has been replaced with brass cable. Dark label inside case. Very few 30 hour wagon springs were produced, with the net result that they tend to bring the same price as an 8-day. Old hands are replacements; should be straight minute hand and small spade hour hand. Ht 24"
