the case has been refinished, there has been some restoration to the hood and trunk door and the bottom feet have been replaced. The plinths, finials and hood door glasses are replacements. The hinges and weights are old but replacements. Spittler and Bailey's "Clockmakers and Watchmakers of America" lists Miller as hailing from Elizabethtown, N.J. c1747 and advertising in N.Y. city as a maker of clocks in the best manner as well as a fabricator of compasses, chains for surveyors and church bells of any size. Virtually all of the known Miller clock cases are made of gumwood. Ht 92"
