France, small industrial beam engine desk clock by Guilmet, eight day time only movement, back plate marked Medialle D'Or GLT Paris, white enamel Roman numeral dial with blued steel Breguet style hands, the engine with bright and patinated silver and gold surfaces, mounted on a white marble base with turned brass feet, c1880 The movement is ticking, enamel dial and hands very good, hand set knob replaced, engine surfaces restored, pendulum (beam) a well made replacement, x suspension intact, suspension springs at beam ends broken but present, base possibly replaced Ht 7 1/2" See Derek Roberts "Mystery, Novelty and Fantasy Clocks" chapter 22 for illustrations and more information on this clock
