Attributed Joseph N. Dunning, Burlington, VT, weight driven wall regulator, 10 inch dial, 8 day, time, c1835
Anonymous (not verified)
24 October 2024
the mahogany case has been attractively re-finished; lower door restored; the dial numerals have been repainted maybe 25 years ago over the original surface and paint, and with losses in the margin (crazing is evident with a loupe). The movement, which matches that shown in Paul Foley's book on "Willard's Patent Timepieces", page 107, is mounted from the rear center with a single screw; a couple of side stabilizer screws are also present. Clock is clean and ticking robustly. Some nicks and scrapes commensurate with the age of the piece. This case style is unique to Dunning, and although no signature remains, there is no doubt of its origin. Ht 34.5"
