Waterbury Clock Co., Waterbury, Conn., mahogany 8 days, time and strike, mantel clock with "Saxon" figure, visible escapement, c1893 we find this bugler in Ly's illustrations of ornaments and figures, but not this or any other figural clock in a wood case (all others are cast metal), so this is a rare piece. The original finish on the wood and statue have just minor blemishes and wear. Approximately a fourth of the wood on the top urn base has broken away and is absent. The brass dial, beaded bezel, and beveled glass all are good; the pallets are steel. The signed movement needs a pendulum. Ht 18"
