Johannes Friderich Schmidt, Kuttenberg, Austria, 3-Fusee Bracket clock, two day duration, crown verge, striking the quarters on 3 bells and the hour on a single bell, c1750
Anonymous (not verified)
24 October 2024
there is wear to the wood elements of the case, the rear door was brushed with gold paint, front door has repaired crack. The recently serviced heavy movement has cable on the strike fusees, and chain for the time fusee (proper, as the time fusee has flat bottomed channels). The "at rest" hook for the pendulum is absent. The rear plate bears the engraved name of the maker. The brass dial has cast and gilt royal crown spandrels, each with a bust, and the arch filled with an elaborate crown. There is also a mock pendulum aperture with a star shaped indicator. Hour hand with later end. A bell probably has been replaced since the 3 bells offer only 2 different pitches. Ht 13.5"
