French Industrial clock by Guilmet, "Steam Hammer", with gilt and patinated bronze case on a black slate base with gilt feet, the hammer forming part of the pendulum, rising and falling to strike the anvil as the clock ticks, 8 days, time and strike, movement signed Japy Freres, counting the hours and striking the half hour on a bell, also with Guilmets mark on the back plate, dial with applied gilt Roman numerals, with gilt spade hands, c1880 Case is dirty, but good with some wear and loss to the gilding, steel parts with light oxidation, lower portion of hammer replaced, finials replaced, linkage from the lever at the left to the valve at top missing, base with a few minor chips/ flakes, numeral 2 on dial replaced, hands with minor oxidation, movement dirty but complete, escapement functions, suspension is intact, but all will require service and adjustment in order to function properly, back cover for movement missing, Ht 18"
