Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Master Clock M" wall clock, 8 days, time only, weight driven movement in an oak case with 18" painted metal dial signed "MASTER REGULATOR, PETTES & RANDALL CO. NEW YORK", c1922 the outside of the case has a great alligatored original finish. The inside of the case has a later glossy finish. The case and dimensions are identical to the model "Regulator No. 31" and there is evidence in this clock where parts of the master clock have been removed {holes neatly filled}. The mounts for the dial surround are replacements. The pendulum stick is a period ST replacement with impulse plate moved to fit this movement. The five small rear finials are absent. The four front finials are present. The damascened pendulum bob and weight are Seth Thomas issue and nickel plated. Whether viewed as the Master Regulator or a Regulator #31, this is still an uncommon Seth Thomas model, large and impressive. Ht 68"
