Balthazard, a Paris, large gilt bronze clock in the rococo style, the case and base decorated with acanthus leaves and c scrolls, shells, and other naturalistic ornament, the top with a putto seated on clouds before an openwork scallop shell, also with c scrolls and foliage, the front and sides with strap work fret backed with silvered copper foil, molded brass bezel with convex beveled glass over white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and Arabic black outer 5 minute markers, and signed in pink enamel "BALTHAZARD A PARIS", gilt Louis XV style hands, the tip of the minute with dolphin, large round 8 day French movement with silk suspension and recoil escapement, striking on a bell, c1760 Case good, no breaks or losses to cast elements, one applied casting to right of dial loose, case dirty and with polish residue, retains some gilding, case front, lower left with added screw, frets intact with minor bends, foil behind fret discolored and with minor losses, foil in top of case missing, bezel polished, glass good, dial dirty and with minor chips/ flakes at winding holes, otherwise very good, case rear door present but missing glass, movement good, ticks and strikes, would benefit from cleaning, pendulum replaced, bell nut replaced, overall a nice example, Ht 22"
