Lepaute, Paris, shelf or mantel clock, ebonized wooden case with carved egg and dart and acanthus moldings, the sides with carved rosettes, turned wooden bezel with convex glass, Roman numeral, convex white enamel dial with outer 5 minute markers, signed "LEPAUTE Hger DU ROY A PARIS", brass dial mounting plate with regulator and scale above 12:00, very nice gilt Louis XV style hands with engraved detail, rectangular timepiece movement with pinwheel escapement, going for one, possibly two weeks, heavy lead filled brass pendulum with steel rod, c1780 Case with modifications and replacements, dial with hairlines, minor flakes at winding hole, hands very good, minor bend in minute hand, movement with restoration, original center arbor and escape arbor included with clock, cannon pinion currently frozen on center arbor (do not attempt to move minute hand without addressing this problem), pendulum appears to be original, movement ticks, Ht 24"
