French, Mathieu Laine, La Pendule Louis XVI, an ormolu lyre on a white marble base, the skeletonized movement forming the actual pendulum, suspended from a knife edge, with tic-tac escapement and count wheel striking on a bell, c1790.

24 October 2024
ormolu lyre frame shows minor oxidation on high spots, especially the sunburst, minor edge roughness to marble base. The dial has a small repair at minute marker 60 that could be improved, otherwise excellent considering its age. The plates of the movement are fretted out to reveal the wheels of both trains and the gilt hands are finely chased and original. Similar examples may be seen in LA PENDULE FRANCASIE, under the Louis XVI section, 1750-90, usually shown in part II, however some editions differ. A larger than average clock, Seems mechanically sound and does tick robustly and strike on rear bell; overall very good original condition. Ht 23"
