Austrian painted wood and alabaster column two-day time and strike, portico mantel clock, c1840 the elaborate case is complete but the black paint is worn, the top leans a bit, and the gold has been over painted on the lyre and column capitols. Perhaps best are the three groups of tiny flowers displayed at top behind convex glasses. The enamel dial, engraved bezel, and glass are fine. The square two spring driven movement, with thread suspension, strikes a gong. There is a groove in the base for a glass dome (not present), and these usually had a turned wooden cover behind the movement, which is absent. Ht 21"
